Solar roof check: what fits on your roof?

It is an estimate, not a quote. The roof faces come from the official 3D building model. We look for chimneys, roof windows, built dormers and existing solar panels on the aerial photo and the laser scan; small roof windows are not always found. You can correct everything in the picture yourself. The exact survey, the structure and the meter cabinet we check at the visit on site.

The solar roof check lays modules row by row on every usable roof face: 30 cm from the edge and 10 mm between modules, upright, across or mixed, whichever fits more. You can choose from three module types (470, 490 and 520 W); it starts with 490 W. Chimneys, roof windows and other things on the roof stay free, and on flat roofs the modules stand on racks tilted 10°. Where fewer than two modules fit, the face stays empty. You see the module count and kWp at once; one tap takes out a module or a whole face. We settle the structure and the fixing at the visit.

The solar roof check works out what your modules would have produced every day since January 2025 with the weather measured by the German Weather Service. Power you use yourself is valued at the Stadtwerke München basic-supply price, the rest at the feed-in rate for systems that start running by the end of 2026. That gives euros a year with and without a battery, plus your municipality's subsidy. Enter what your system costs and it shows after how many years it pays for itself. On a cheaper power tariff than the basic supply you save less. You can print the plan with all figures as one page or save it as a PDF.

For every module the solar roof check tests whether neighbouring houses, your own house, dormers and chimneys block the sun, with the sun position every half hour on the 21st of each month. Where we have already read in the laser scan, so far Munich and the district of Munich, every tree counts with its height too: deciduous trees in leaf let about 20 % of the light through, bare ones about 60 %, conifers about 15 %. The shade detective under "Your roof in detail" names what takes the most sun from your modules, in kWh a year. You can make a tree taller or shorter in the picture, or take it out.

Your browser sends it only to our server, which looks the house up in the 3D building model. We use it only for your calculation, do not store it and do not pass it on. Your plan is in the link after the #; it leaves your browser only if you share it.
