Three ways in Munich
Since December 2024 Munich pays nothing for rooftop PV or battery storage. What you can get depends on who you are.
I rent
- Plug-in solar €0.40 per Wp up to 800 Wp, at most 50 % of the cost, so up to €320
- With a München-Pass 95 % of the cost, the socket alone too
- Your landlord must agree to the mounting; you do not show the city
- Important apply online first, then buy

I own my house
- PV system and battery no city grant any more
- Independent PV advice 60 % of the fee, up to €3,000 (1–2 flats)
- Plug-in solar as for tenants: up to €320
- What remains 0 % VAT on system and battery, plus the feed-in tariff

- Tenant electricity €200 per kWp when the PV system supplies several households in the building
- PV advice 60 % of the fee, up to €15,000 from 3 flats
- Plug-in solar for the whole building tell the city’s programme first

How it works in München
- Online in the city's funding portal, before you buy
- Two notices follow in the portal; buy only after “may be ordered”
- You must live (main or second home) in the Munich flat where the device is installed; tenants too
- One year from the application; run the device for ten years
