What is PV-thermal?
Garching does not fund ordinary PV systems, but it does fund PV-thermal panels. They do two things at once.
- Solar cells on top They make power like any PV panel.
- A heat exchanger underneath It takes up the cells’ heat and passes it to hot water or a heat pump.
- What Garching pays €200 per kWp for PV-thermal, at most €2,000. Nothing for ordinary panels; up to €2,000 for battery storage (0.5 to 2 kWh per kWp), up to €200 for plug-in solar (€300 with a battery).
