What applies around Rosenheim

Grid operator, permits, subsidies: what applies to your roof in Rosenheim and the district, with sources.

Permits

In Bavaria you do not need to apply for a building permit for solar panels on your roof (Art. 57 BayBO). Only listed buildings (Denkmal) and houses in a protected ensemble need a permit from the monument authority. The Bavarian monument map shows whether your house is one of them.

Subsidies

As far as we can find, neither the city nor the district of Rosenheim currently has its own grant scheme for solar panels. Across Germany, systems up to 30 kWp on homes are exempt from VAT. The consumer advice centre (Verbraucherzentrale) offers free, independent first advice to city residents once a month at the town hall.

Check your roof

The solar map (Solardachkataster) of the city and district shows, free of charge and for every building, how well the roof suits solar power. On paper the district already produces more electricity from renewables than it uses: 131 per cent, mostly from hydropower (2023 figures).

A year in Rosenheim

What a roof here delivers in a year

A 10 kWp system facing south at 30 degrees produces around 11,200 kilowatt hours a year in Rosenheim on average: 1,323 kWh in July, only 441 kWh in December. That is about 15 per cent more than in Hamburg.

Average of 2005 to 2023, including shade from the horizon and 14 per cent losses in the system. Calculated for central Rosenheim with PVGIS, the EU Joint Research Centre.

Connect in 2026 and lock in 20 years of fixed feed-in payments

Under the government draft of 29 July 2026, new systems lose the fixed feed-in tariff from 2027. Systems running by 31 December 2026 keep it for 20 years. The law has not been passed yet.

After you order, we usually install within 4 weeks.

Balcony systems

A small system? We install those too.

Not every plug-in solar system (Steckersolargerät) hangs on a balcony. Hardly anyone mounts four modules on a garage roof or a house roof themselves. We do that for you, around Rosenheim too.

Frequently asked questions

Are there subsidies for solar panels in Rosenheim?

As far as we can find, neither the city nor the district of Rosenheim currently has its own grant scheme for solar panels. Across Germany, systems up to 30 kWp on homes are exempt from VAT.

Who is my grid operator?

That depends on where you live: Stadtwerke Rosenheim Netze in the city, Stadtwerke Wasserburg in Wasserburg, Bayernwerk Netz in villages such as Edling. We handle the registration.

Do I need a building permit in the Rosenheim district?

No. In Bavaria you do not need to apply for a building permit for solar panels on your roof. Only listed buildings and houses in a protected ensemble need a permit from the monument authority.

Do you install balcony systems too?

Yes, if you cannot do it yourself, for example four modules on a garage or house roof.

Where around Rosenheim do you work?

From Rott am Inn we mostly work between Ebersberg and Rosenheim, in the city as well as in Kolbermoor, Bad Aibling or Wasserburg. Further west, towards Munich, our team at Am Moosfeld takes over.

How much does a solar system cost?

A 10 kWp system without a battery starts at €14,999 with us, including installation and registration with the grid operator. A battery, a difficult roof or a new meter cabinet add to that. Your quote shows every cost. Systems for residential buildings carry no VAT. As of 23 October 2026.

How long until the system is running?

After you order, we usually install within 4 weeks. We register the system with the grid operator and the national register (Marktstammdatenregister).

Do you advise in English?

Yes. Advice and all the back-and-forth work in English or German. We handle the German forms for the grid operator and the authorities for you.
